New Beginnings and Second Chances

Spring is here. Baseball season has started. March Madness is in full swing (with my alma mater playing in the championship game tomorrow night against Kentucky). Easter is right around the corner. Snow has melted up north and plants are growing. Everything is new.

No better time than now to start fresh. The year began with an attempt to start strong, with some damage to a right hip tighter than it should be. A work life that required a couple 20 hour days per week for the last three months combined with sitting at a desk and an undisciplined diet finds me in worst shape than I've been in years. Six months ago I was preparing to run the Chicago Marathon. Now I'm happy if a run to the bathroom is done without having to catch my breath.

So, we start fresh every morning. Tomorrow is a new day. 42 days in front of me. Boston or bust.

Run On, Sentences follows the path of the author as he evolves from a lackluster inaugural marathon time to pursue a qualifying time for the Boston Marathon. Along the way, he'll deal with the challenges of a short attention span, growing older and the chaotic calendar of a husband, father, corporate executive, and active member of the community.
